NanoStudio is a recording studio for iOS, OS X and Windows. It has virtual analogue synths, sample trigger pads, a comprehensive sequencer, a sample editor, a mixer and multiple effects all integrated into a single application.

Record your ideas in real time, mix synth layers with samples, compose and arrange your tune using the powerful sequencer and bring the mix alive with effects such as reverb, compression and EQ. Share your tune on SoundCloud from wherever you are or use the comprehensive audio mixdown options and MIDI export feature to get your ideas over to your desktop DAW when you get back home.

INSTRUMENTS

Up to 6 simultaneous instruments (including mixer) or upgrade with the 16 Instrument Tracks in-app purchase, particularly recommended for newer devices.

Eden, a powerful 16 voice subtractive synth with dual oscillators, 2 pole resonant filter, 3 envelope generators and 4 LFOs per voice and 2 dedicated insert effects. Edens virtual patchbay lets you hook up almost anything for modulation mayhem.

The TRG-16, a performance pad for triggering samples. Adjust pitch, pan, volume and envelopes and assign each sample to one of the 3 output busses, each with its own effect sends and filter setup.

SAMPLING

Record samples with the built-in mic (iPod Touch requires external mic), resample NanoStudios own output or upload your own samples using NanoSync for OS X/Windows. Edit your samples using NanoStudios built-in wave editing tools (with multiple undo/redo) and process them offline with custom effects chains.

SEQUENCER

Record performances in real-time using the keys and trigger pads or create patterns and controller sweeps by drawing them in the piano roll editor. Arrange your patterns into a complete song using the track editor. You can edit while the song is playing and every operation has multiple undo/redo.

MASTERING

Nanostudios mixer has 2 global effects sends, 4 insert effects per channel and you can record, edit and playback all your fader and pan changes. When youre ready to share your mix with others you can upload it direct to SoundCloud or use NanoSync to copy the exported .wav file to your Mac/PC.

EFFECTS

NanoStudios reverb, compressor, parametric EQ, waveshaper, delay, chorus, and bitcrusher effects are all highly optimized so you can run lots of them.

Super bien cette application, ma config: iPod touch 3 (64go) iOS 5.1.1 + synthstation 25 !!!!!

Okay... I was in professional music production for about 8 years and I have seen a lot. Euphonix mixers, sounddesigners with opened up Emulator III samplers to enhance the fantastic analouge filters even more. I was working in Abbey Road and joining a session in Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston. While today I am in digital strategy consulting, I still can not let my hands of music. I love listening and - if I have the time - producing for myself. This said, NanoStudio changed everything. If you have people argueing about the app and its limitations, expect those people to be in a state of cognitive dissonance. Imagine, you bought yourself sound equipment for tens- and hunderedthousands of dollars. And all of a sudden, an iPad app comes up, that does all that stuff. With a sound, that is broadcastable. Of course, you would say everything, just to justify your past investments. My suggestion: Sell that stuff as long there are people outthere, that did not get the shift. Buy an iPad, a huge libary of samples (iDisc is perfect for transfer). Thats it. Just for good voice recording - all that does not apply. But with the voice samples at hand, the app gives you all you might need.

Until NS 2 comes out, this is the best! Audio can be imported with samples, in case you need audio tracks.

Its a awesome designed and programmed mini - nano studio program. All cubase vst users should be use this program fast and intuitively. Its a complete solution to create sound with a ipod, ipad or iphone without any other things like a keyboard. Great. Its very impressive how many software synts , this eden synth, can be run parallel on a single ARM Coretx A8 Core like a IPod 4G. The FXs sounds also good and warm. Nice and very sophisticated work!!! Respect!!!

I have a few requests: First off the ability to add more tracks would be nice. Also the ability to blend bits/sections of a song together. And last a better sounding middle tom would be very nice.

By far surpasses my expectations. 15 $ is a little pricey... Id say 10.00 would be perfect .. But with a synth consisting of so many effects, the automated equalizer and the drum pads with endless combinations, you can pretty much get any sound you can think of , and if you cant think of any youll come up with something just playing around. Incredible for anyone wanting to start mixing, dj-ing or producing. For 15 bucks I hope the updates include more presets for FREE.. Also you CAN mix bits and such. Just mix your pieces into a pattern.. Offer VSTS or add-ons for a buck!

Some bad moments

"Record samples using the built in microphone." I honestly thought this meant record with the built in microphone. I feel misled Super disappointed! It does have great samples though.

Sorry but this is not what I want. Also recorded samples have ticks in them.

I love NanoStudio and ive been using this app for 2 years. But with this last update something went terrible wrong. Twice in a week ive lost the work of hours because the app didnt save the progress, despite (obviously) repeatedly pushing the save button while working on the track... Everyone who writes music knows how frustrating it is to lose the ideas and the work of an entire evening. Please fix this, i cant trust this app anymore...

The PC version has full 16 tracks without having to pay other money. One star is more than enough.

This app is AMAZING! Never before have I seen an app with SO many professional features... and everything is brilliantly formatted for the small screen. Im completely stunned at how full-featured this is... on my phone! Definitely well worth the asking price. I havent used many other DAWs on the AppStore (this was obviously the best based on reviews), but I cant imagine anything even coming close to this.

Needs a deeper sampler, at least one that will allow you to make a key-map with layers and zones, perhaps with separate architecture per zone or per sample even. Then I would be on this thing like white on rice. Nobody is doing samples on iOS. Why? I hate that! I love this thing in all other respects.
